Photographic Print. Hibiscus rosa sinensis with red petals made transluscent pink by the light.
I photographed this Hibiscus in a garden in Costa Da Caparica, Portugal. While flowering,
this plant attracts hummingbirds and butterflies, it can bloom abundantly but each flower
only lasts for a day or two. The hibiscus flower is traditionally worn by Tahitan and Hawaiian girls. If the flower is worn behind the left ear, the woman is married
or in a relationship. If the flower is worn on the right, she is single
or available. The hibiscus is Hawaii's state flower. Common names for it are Tropical Hibiscus, Rose of China and Hawaiian Hibiscus. It is native to China but widely grown throughout the tropics and subtropics where it can be tree-like.
Colours are as accurate as possible but may differ slightly due to screen calibrations.
Shipping outside UK mainland is estimated, on occasion a variation will be emailed before dispatch.
