Photographic Print. Roosevelt Tamale Parlor neon sign, 2817 24th Street, Mission neighbourhood, San Francisco.
I
am glad I photographed this iconic retro sign when the colours were old
and beautiful, the blue distinguishing the pale violet sweet shape of
the neon, as it is now all painted one colour in a garish yellow.
Roosevelt Tamale was established in 1922, named after the American
President,
Theodore Roosevelt.
Tamales are made with masa dough which can be filled with meat, cheese,
chilli, vegetables or fruit and cooked in a leaf wrapper. They
originated in Mesoamerica as early as 8000 B.C. and were eaten by
Aztec, Maya and Inca civilizations.
Colours are as accurate as possible but may differ slightly due to
screen calibrations.
Shipping outside UK mainland is estimated, on
occasion a variation will be emailed before dispatch.
