Photographic Print. Viking with winged helmet raising his sword across the skull on a cross in Blackpool.
The striking Viking drawing his sword to the sky across the skull seem to signify justice or good and evil. Valhalla is a large indoor dark ride at Blackpool Pleasure Beach Amusement Park in
England which opened in 2000. At a cost of £15 million it is one of the most
expensive water rides ever to be built and is the longest indoor dark ride in the world. Both
a dark ride and a log flume water ride, it is based on Valhalla from
Norse mythology and uses special effects incorporating fire, water,
snow, thunder and lightning. The front is covered with artificial rock
and a huge waterfall flows down the fairground ride façade, creating a fantastic
backdrop of shining rock for Vikings, boats and skulls on crosses. In Norse mythology,
Valhalla is a majestic hall of the fallen dead for distinguished warriors who are chosen by the god Odin who rules over it.
