Photographic print. Columbarium wall with Lilacs & Lantern in the white chapel at Laigueglia Cemetery, Italy.
This shows two older decorated le nicchie and two new tombs encased and ready to receive their marble plaques with lanterns and vases for holding flowers. Laigueglia Cimitero is reached by a small gateway in the roadside wall near the promenade. The low light and pink glow of the lanterns seemed to give an ethereal atmosphere. It is in the province of Savona, Liguria on the Italian Riviera. Lilacs originated in South Eastern Europe and are a popular part of the Mediterranean culture. They are often associated with Easter.
