Photographic print. Columbaium plaques with Lilacs & Lanterns in the white chapel of Laigueglia Cemetery, Italy.
A Columbarium is a place for the respectful storage of cinerary urns, those holding a deceased's cremated remains. The peaceful cimitero is like a graveyard garden with decorated tombs and a wall of le nicchie in the cemetery and inside the white chapel, each nicchia beautifully adorned with flowers and lanterns. Savona is in Liguria on the Italian Riviera. The Celtics thought of the Lilac as magical due to their intoxicating fragrance. In the Victorian period, the giving of a Lilac was a reminder of an old love.
