Photographic Print. Glowing pink Water Lily and Koi fish in Lily pond at Holetown restaurant, Barbados, Caribbean.
The water Lily symbolises resurrection in Buddhism and Hinduism because many of the Lilies close their flowers at night and reopen in the morning at first
sunlight. Buddhists regard them as a symbol of enlightenment
because of the beautiful pure bloom that emerges from the mud; rising and blooming above the
mud to achieve enlightenment. They consider it a symbol of purity and faithfulness; the purifying of the spirit which is born into murkiness and the faith to rise above it. A Water Lily flower fully bloomed and open represents full enlightenment and self-awareness.
